Two Israeli Soldiers Killed and Four Wounded in South Lebanon Explosion During Counterterror Operation
Two soldiers from Israel's 55th Brigade were killed and four others seriously wounded in an operational incident in southern Lebanon on Wednesday around noon. The troops were conducting a clearance mission targeting terrorist infrastructure near Majdal Zoun when they entered a suspicious building that exploded due to a booby-trapped device inside. The fallen soldiers were identified as Lieutenant Colonel Harel Birnstok and retired Captain Tamir Kanan. The injured soldiers, all reservists, were evacuated for medical treatment, and their families were notified. Following the explosion, Israeli Air Force strikes targeted locations in the area under the guidance of the Northern Command and the 91st Division's fire brigade. The Israel Defense Forces continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
