The IDF cleared for publication more details on a serious incident in southern Lebanon, in the village of A-Taybeh, where a powerful explosive device was detonated against a forward command vehicle of the deputy commander of the 36th Division, Col. Natay Oqashi. One soldier was killed in the blast, and several others were wounded, some moderately and some lightly, including Oqashi, who was hurt moderately.
In response, the IDF struck several Hezbollah targets in the area. The military said the attack was part of a broader exchange after the incident in the Lebanese village.
This was the second time on the same day that troops were hit in southern Lebanon. Earlier, around 6:00 a.m., an explosive drone detonated near a Givati Brigade force operating in the Al-Saluki and Beaufort area.
That morning attack left two soldiers seriously wounded, two more moderately wounded, and one lightly wounded. The injured were evacuated to hospitals in Israel, and their families were notified.
