Israeli-German Man Dies in Paragliding Crash in Colombia
A 23-year-old Israeli-German dual citizen, Noam Maman, died Thursday in a paragliding accident near Medellin, Colombia. Maman was on vacation in the region and took off for a tandem flight with a local instructor, Emiliano Monitón Castro, in the San Felix area, known for paragliding.
Shortly after takeoff, the paraglider lost control and plunged into a deep mountain ravine. Maman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The instructor, Castro, suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Medellin.
Eyewitnesses reported strong wind gusts at the time of the incident, but the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation by Colombian authorities. Forensic teams have arrived at the crash site to gather evidence.
Consular officials have been notified to assist with the repatriation of Maman's body. Initial checks indicate the operating company held the necessary licenses and complied with local regulations, so its operations have not yet been suspended pending the investigation's outcome.
