Israeli Ex-Soldier Killed in Paragliding Accident in Colombia
A 23-year-old recently discharged Israeli soldier died in a paragliding accident in Medellin, Colombia, while on his post-army "big trip." Chabad emissaries, in coordination with the Israeli Embassy, are working with Colombian authorities to expedite the return of his body for burial in Israel.
The local instructor accompanying the soldier was seriously injured when their tandem paraglider crashed in a wooded area in the Antioquia region. The incident is believed to have been caused by strong winds and difficult weather conditions.
Colombian prosecutors have launched a legal investigation and are collecting evidence from the crash site. Local authorities inspected the paragliding business involved and found it to be in order, though the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
