Gaza Division Intelligence Officer from Oct. 7 Dismissed from IDF
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has decided to terminate the service of Lieutenant Colonel (reserves) Aleph, who served as the intelligence officer for the Gaza Division on October 7. The decision follows findings from investigations into his performance in the period leading up to the Hamas attack.
The Chief of Staff determined that Aleph bore command responsibility for the events of that day. He had previously appealed the disciplinary process against him, but his appeal was denied. He now has the right to appeal the decision to terminate his service directly to the Chief of Staff.
The IDF has been conducting extensive investigations into the failures that preceded the October 7th attack, with several officers facing consequences for their roles. This dismissal is part of the ongoing accountability process within the military.
