IDF Ousts Gaza Division Intelligence Officer for October 7 Failures
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has officially dismissed Lieutenant Colonel Aleph, the former intelligence officer for the Gaza Division, for his role in the events of October 7. The decision follows a directive from IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, issued on November 23, 2025, which identified a series of senior commanders bearing command responsibility for the failures of October 7 and recommended disciplinary action.
Lt. Col. Aleph was among those commanders identified. Following a review by the Deputy Chief of Staff, who recommended the officer's release from service, proceedings were initiated in recent months to end his military career. His appeals against this decision have been rejected.
The dismissal signifies a significant accountability measure within the IDF in the aftermath of the Hamas attacks. The process involved extensive reviews and legal procedures before the final decision was made to remove the officer from his position.
