IDF Ousts Gaza Division Intel Officer Over October 7 Failures
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has officially dismissed Lieutenant Colonel Aleph, who served as the intelligence officer for the Gaza Division on October 7. The decision followed a comprehensive review of all relevant considerations, including findings from investigations and professional assessments regarding his performance in the period leading up to the Hamas attacks.
According to the IDF spokesperson, the officer's own arguments concerning his level of responsibility were also taken into account. Lt. Col. Aleph has the option to appeal the dismissal to the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi. The officer's identity has not yet been cleared for publication.
The IDF stated that all relevant factors were examined before reaching the final decision regarding the officer's role and responsibility.
