Palestinian Man Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run on Cyclist in Herzliya
A 50-year-old cyclist was killed Thursday morning in Herzliya after being struck by a stolen car. The driver, a 24-year-old resident of the Nablus district who was in Israel illegally, was apprehended by police. Authorities suspect the driver stole the vehicle and then hit the cyclist, causing the car to overturn.
The cyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to Ichilov Hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead. MDA emergency services received the initial report at 8:22 AM and found the cyclist unconscious and without vital signs. Paramedics performed advanced resuscitation efforts before evacuating him to the hospital in critical condition.
Police reported finding a bag inside the stolen car containing tools believed to be used for vehicle theft, including an ignition computer, a hammer, and breaking implements. Traffic accident investigators collected evidence at the scene while the investigation into the car theft and fatal collision continues.
