Palestinian Man Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run on Cyclist in Israel

Police in Tel Aviv arrested a 24-year-old resident of the Nablus district who was in Israel without permits, on suspicion of stealing a car and fatally striking a cyclist. The incident occurred on Thursday morning between Tel Aviv and Herzliya.

Magen David Adom (MDA) received a report of the accident at 8:22 AM. Paramedics arriving at the scene found a man, approximately 50 years old, unconscious and without vital signs. The suspect vehicle was found overturned nearby. MDA teams provided life-saving treatment, including CPR and medication, and transported the cyclist to Ichilov Hospital in critical condition, continuing resuscitation efforts. Doctors later pronounced him dead.

David Amichai, an MDA paramedic, described the scene as "shocking," noting the unconscious cyclist and the overturned car. He detailed the intensive resuscitation efforts during transport.

Officers from the Yarkon district apprehended the suspect at the scene. A search of the vehicle revealed a bag containing equipment suspected for use in car theft, including an ignition computer, a hammer, and tools for breaking windows. Traffic accident investigators are examining the scene and have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
