Illegal Immigrant Kills Cyclist After Stealing Car Near Tel Aviv
A 24-year-old man from Shechem, who was illegally in Israel, stole a car and fatally struck a cyclist near Tel Aviv on Thursday morning, September 17. The incident occurred on Ariel Sharon Road in Herzliya, near Hof HaTzuk beach, bordering Tel Aviv and Herzliya. The victim, a resident of Ramat HaSharon, was found unconscious and without vital signs by Magen David Adom paramedics at 8:22 AM. Despite resuscitation efforts, he was transported in critical condition to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, where he later died.
Police apprehended the suspect, who sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized after his arrest. Investigators are examining the circumstances of the crash and the stolen vehicle. A search of the car revealed a bag containing tools believed to be used for car theft, including an ignition override system, a hammer, and glass-breaking tools. Authorities suspect the car was stolen from Yunitsman Street in Tel Aviv before the driver headed towards Herzliya.
