Illegal Immigrant Steals Car in Haifa, Caught After Reckless Chase on Highway 65
A 26-year-old illegal immigrant from the Jenin area was arrested after stealing a car in Haifa and driving recklessly on Highway 65. Police set up roadblocks and stopped the vehicle near Kfar Tavor. The suspect was found to be driving without a license and residing in Israel without legal permits. The incident began in the afternoon when police received a report of a stolen vehicle in Haifa. Northern District officers quickly mobilized, using technological means and deploying checkpoints to locate the car. When the stolen vehicle approached near Kfar Tavor, officers identified it and successfully stopped it after blocking the road. Following investigation, the suspect was charged at the Nazareth Magistrate’s Court with vehicle theft, driving without a license, and illegal residency. The prosecution also requested his detention until the end of legal proceedings. The Israeli Police emphasized their ongoing efforts to combat property crimes and illegal residency, stating, "We will continue to act decisively against lawbreakers to ensure public safety." This case follows several recent serious traffic incidents, including a swift arrest in a separate car theft in Ma'ale Adumim.
