Illegal Immigrant Steals Car, Crashes, Kills Cyclist in Herzliya
A 24-year-old Palestinian man from the Nablus district, identified as an illegal immigrant, is suspected of stealing a car in Tel Aviv early Thursday morning before crashing and killing a cyclist in Herzliya. The incident occurred around 8:22 AM on Ariel Sharon Street.
Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics responded to the scene and found the cyclist, a man in his 50s, unconscious and without pulse or breathing. They initiated resuscitation efforts and transported him to Ichilov Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
The suspect, who was driving the stolen vehicle, was apprehended by police. Tools believed to be used for car theft were found in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested, and authorities are investigating the circumstances of the theft and the fatal collision.
An MDA paramedic described the scene as "horrific," noting the cyclist's critical state and the overturned vehicle nearby.
