Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run; Driver Arrested in Central Israel
A man, approximately 45 years old, was killed Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle near the moshav (agricultural community) of Porat in the Sharon region of central Israel. Police reported arresting the driver, a woman in her 30s, on suspicion of fleeing the scene after the collision. Officers located the driver, who was then taken in for questioning regarding her involvement in the accident.
The incident was reported to Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency services at 6:56 PM on Saturday, concerning a man injured in a traffic accident on road 5535. MDA paramedics arriving at the scene found the man with severe, multi-system injuries and no signs of life, and pronounced him dead.
"The injured man, who suffered multi-system injuries, lay unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing," said MDA paramedic Summer Mansour. "We performed medical checks, but he had no signs of life, and we had no choice but to pronounce him dead."
