Man Dies in Hit-and-Run; Driver Arrested Near Kadima-Tzoran
A 45-year-old man was killed Saturday evening on Highway 5535 near Kadima-Tzoran in the Lev HaSharon Regional Council. Shortly after, police announced the arrest of a female driver in her 30s on suspicion of hitting the man and fleeing the scene. Paramedics arriving at the scene found the victim with severe, multi-system injuries, unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, and pronounced him dead.
The incident is the latest in a string of fatal road accidents. The previous day, a 48-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash on Highway 7 near Gedera. Earlier that night, a motorcyclist in his 30s was killed on Highway 1 near Ma'ale Adumim. On Wednesday, two men in their 30s and 40s died in a collision between two private vehicles on Highway 675 in the Gilboa region, near the Nevot Gideon interchange. Two others, a man in his 30s and a 37-year-old woman, were seriously injured and taken to HaEmek Hospital in Afula.
Earlier on Wednesday, an elderly pedestrian in her 80s was struck and killed in northern Tel Aviv. The driver, reportedly in his 80s, was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the accident and fleeing. Police investigated the scene on Bnei Ephraim Street and subsequently located and apprehended the suspect.
