Israeli Police Arrest Suspect in Deadly Hit-and-Run of Illegal Palestinian Workers in Negev

Israeli police apprehended a 24-year-old illegal Palestinian resident from Dura in the West Bank after a hit-and-run incident that killed one and injured two others near the Shomriya area along the West Bank barrier in the Negev. The suspect allegedly struck three illegal Palestinian workers with his vehicle while attempting to steal a car. The fatal crash occurred two days prior, with the victim, a man around 30 years old, pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men, aged 21 and 31, sustained moderate injuries and were hospitalized at Soroka Medical Center.

The police launched an extensive manhunt following the incident. The suspect was found in Beersheba, and the vehicle used in the crime was discovered hidden beneath a water carrier. The suspect is expected to appear in Beersheba Magistrate's Court for a remand hearing to extend his detention as the investigation continues. Medical personnel from Magen David Adom reported that upon arrival, the deceased showed no signs of life and suffered severe multiple injuries, while the two injured victims were treated for limb and back trauma.

This case remains under active investigation by the Israeli police's Rotem Unit, focusing on the circumstances of the collision and the suspect's actions leading up to the event.
