IDF Confirms Killing Hamas Terrorist Responsible for Multiple Attacks
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Shin Bet, and Israel Police confirmed on Wednesday the elimination of Hamas operative Farah Hamed in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip. Hamed was a member of Hamas's military wing and had previously served as a senior figure in the "West Bank Staff" infrastructure, engaging in combat against Israeli forces during recent operations in Gaza. For years, Hamed was involved in planning and executing terror attacks in the West Bank.
He was part of the "Silwad" cell, responsible for numerous severe attacks in the Binyamin region that resulted in the deaths of civilians and soldiers and injured others. Hamed was implicated in a November 2002 shooting attack near the Rimmonim junction, which killed Esther Galiya Attia, a June 2003 shooting attack on Route 60 that killed Zvi (Howard) Goldstein, and an August 2003 shooting attack on the Alon road in Samaria that killed Shalom (Shuli) Har-Melech. He also participated in an October 2003 shooting attack in Ein Yabrud, where soldiers Elad Pollak, Roi Yaakov Solomon, and Erez Idan were killed.
Hamed was arrested in 2011 but later released to the Gaza Strip as part of the "Shalit deal." Even after his transfer to Gaza, he continued his activities within Hamas's military wing, actively recruiting operatives and directing attacks in the West Bank.
