Hamas Commander Involved in Rabbi Malka's Murder Eliminated in Gaza
Israeli Air Force targeted and eliminated Faraḥ Ḥamad, a senior commander in Hamas's military wing, in an airstrike in southwestern Gaza City. Ḥamad was a member of the "Silwad cell" responsible for deadly attacks during the Second Intifada and was involved in the murder of Rabbi Shuli Har-Melech, who was killed during a terrorist attack. He was released as part of the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal, exiled to Gaza, and continued to direct terrorism in the West Bank.
Ḥamad had survived previous assassination attempts. His elimination marks the closing of a two-decade-long chapter for Israel's security establishment, bringing a measure of closure to the family of Rabbi Har-Melech, whose wife, MK Limor Son Har-Melech, serves in the Knesset.
