Hamas Terrorist Released in Shalit Deal Eliminated in Gaza
A Hamas operative, who was released in the 2011 Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal and subsequently involved in numerous terror attacks, has been killed in the Gaza Strip. The operative, identified as Hamad, was responsible for multiple attacks during the Second Intifada and had been imprisoned in Israel. In recent years, he was involved in promoting terror activities in the West Bank.
During his time in Hamas's military wing, Hamad was part of the 'Silwad' cell and carried out significant attacks in the Benjamin region, resulting in the deaths of Israeli civilians and injuries to others. He also participated in a shooting attack in Ein Yabrud in October 2003, which killed three IDF soldiers: Sergeant Elad Pollak, Sergeant Roi Yaakov Solomon, and First Sergeant Erez Idan.
Following his release in the Shalit deal, Hamad continued his activities within Hamas's military arm, recruiting and directing operatives for attacks in the West Bank. The elimination occurred during an Israeli strike on a Hamas weapons storage facility in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City.
