IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Terrorist Involved in Israeli Kidnappings in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet conducted an airstrike in southern Gaza on Tuesday, killing Hamas militant Hayed Abu Salam. Abu Salam previously commanded the western platoon in Khan Yunis and participated in the October 7 attack, during which he crossed into Israeli territory and helped abduct Israeli civilians, holding them captive in southern Gaza. Recently, he was involved in planning further terrorist attacks, including attempts to restore weapons aimed at Israeli forces. The IDF described him as an immediate threat and eliminated him in a precise aerial strike.

Last week, the IDF and Shin Bet announced the killing of another Hamas operative, Muhammad Naim Jandia, who was involved in the kidnapping of Captain Daniel Peretz and the captivity of Yotam Hayim, Samer Al-Talalka, and Alon Shmoriz. Jandia served as the military security chief of the Shuja'iyya Brigade within Hamas's military wing and led the commando unit that raided Kibbutz Nahal Oz during the October 7 massacre. He was responsible for holding the abducted Israelis in an underground tunnel within the Shuja'iyya Brigade.

These targeted killings are part of ongoing Israeli efforts to dismantle Hamas's military capabilities and rescue Israeli hostages held in Gaza. The operations highlight the continuing security challenges posed by Hamas militants involved in cross-border attacks and kidnappings.
