Israeli Forces Kill Senior Hamas Operative Who Infiltrated Israel During October Attack
Israeli security forces conducted a targeted operation in southern Gaza Strip, killing Hamas militant Wahid Abu Salam, a key figure in Hamas's combat network. Abu Salam, formerly commander of Hamas's western battalion in Khan Yunis, was directly involved in severe terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians. During the October 7 massacre, he infiltrated Israel with other militants, actively participated in abducting Israeli civilians, and helped hold hostages in secret locations in southern Gaza.
Intelligence agencies recently monitored Abu Salam's activities as he vigorously advanced new terror plans, including leading complex efforts to restore and manufacture weapons aimed at Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) personnel operating nearby. Given his immediate and tangible threat to soldiers' safety, the IDF decided on a precise airstrike to eliminate him.
The IDF emphasized that Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area according to the agreement's terms and will continue to act decisively to neutralize any immediate threats to their troops.
