Israeli Forces Kill Terrorist Involved in October 7 Hostage Taking in Gaza
Israeli military forces killed Zaher Barham Khalil Abu Salem, a terrorist from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), in a strike in northern Gaza on Sunday. Abu Salem participated in the October 7 attack when he crossed into Israeli territory and was involved in the abduction and holding of Israeli civilians hostage. Throughout the ongoing conflict, Abu Salem also attempted to orchestrate multiple terror attacks against Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Israeli civilians.
Abu Salem posed a significant threat to Israeli forces operating in Gaza and was eliminated in an aerial attack. In related operations over the past weekend, the IDF and Shin Bet also killed Walid Al-Haniya, deputy commander of the Nukhba unit in Hamas’s military wing. Al-Haniya was one of the commanders involved in the October 7 terror attack and personally infiltrated Israeli territory during the assault.
The Israeli military emphasized that these targeted killings are part of ongoing efforts to neutralize threats following the October 7 massacre and hostage crisis. The operations reflect Israel’s continued focus on dismantling terror infrastructure in Gaza amid the current war.
