IDF and Shin Bet Kill Islamic Jihad Operative Involved in October 7 Attacks
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet conducted an airstrike on Sunday in northern Gaza Strip, killing Zaher Barham Khalil Abu Salem, a militant from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) responsible for infiltrating Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre. Abu Salem participated in the abduction of Israeli civilians from their homes and held them captive. Throughout the ongoing conflict and recently, he attempted to orchestrate multiple terrorist attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians. The IDF stated that Abu Salem posed a significant threat to Israeli forces operating in Gaza and was eliminated in the targeted strike. The Southern Command remains deployed in the area under current agreements and will continue operations to neutralize all threats.
