IDF Kills Islamic Jihad Terrorist Involved in October 7 Attack in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet announced the killing of Zahar Barham Khalil Abu Salem, a member of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, in a strike in northern Gaza on Sunday. Abu Salem participated in the October 7 massacre during the Simchat Torah holiday, where he was involved in abducting Israeli civilians from their homes and holding them captive.

Throughout the ongoing conflict, Abu Salem attempted to orchestrate multiple terror attacks against both IDF forces and Israeli civilians. Despite being sentenced to death for his role in the massacre and kidnappings, the IDF emphasized that his elimination was also due to an immediate threat he posed to Israeli forces operating in Gaza. The strike was conducted from the air under the Southern Command's directive, with the IDF stating it will continue to act to neutralize all threats.

This operation is part of the broader campaign to dismantle those responsible for the October 7 attacks and to secure Israeli citizens and soldiers from ongoing terror threats in the Gaza Strip.
