IDF Eliminates Hamas Terrorist Responsible for Multiple Deadly Attacks

The Israeli military, in a joint operation with the Shin Bet and the Gideonim 433 unit, eliminated a senior Hamas operative in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday. The targeted individual, Farah Hamad, was a member of Hamas's military wing and had previously held a senior position in the 'West Bank Headquarters' infrastructure. He was involved in numerous attacks that resulted in the deaths of Israeli soldiers and civilians.

Hamad was responsible for advancing terror plots in the West Bank and was part of the 'Silwad' cell, carrying out significant attacks in the Benjamin region that killed Israeli civilians and injured others. He was arrested and released to Gaza in the 2011 "Gilad Shalit deal." Since his release, he continued his activities within Hamas's military wing, recruiting and directing operatives for attacks in the West Bank.

The IDF stated that measures were taken to minimize civilian casualties before the strike, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance. Hamad's past attacks include the 2002 shooting near the Rimmonim junction, the 2003 shooting on Route 60, the 2003 shooting on Alon Road in Samaria, and the 2003 shooting in Ein Yabrud, which killed three IDF soldiers.
