Israeli football club Beitar Jerusalem has finalized the transfer of Colombian midfielder Alexis Serna from Independiente Medellín, following earlier rejections of their proposals. The deal is reportedly worth $550,000, excluding potential future bonuses, with Medellín retaining 20% of the player's registration rights for future sales.
Beitar Jerusalem's initial offers included a loan with an option to buy, and a subsequent bid of $400,000 with 15% of future sale proceeds, both of which were turned down by the Colombian club. Serna, 28, who stands at 1.70 meters tall, recorded 3 goals and 2 assists in 25 appearances last season. He has a contract with Independiente Medellín until the end of 2027.
Serna, identified as Beitar's primary midfield target, is expected to travel soon to finalize his move and join the team managed by Almog Cohen. The club has expressed disappointment with their season's start, having suffered losses to Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv in the opening two league matches. They secured their first points on Monday with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin.
