Beitar Jerusalem Secures Colombian Midfielder Alexis Serna in $550,000 Deal

Israeli football club Beitar Jerusalem has finalized the transfer of Colombian midfielder Alexis Serna from Independiente Medellín, following earlier rejections of their proposals. The Jerusalem club will pay Medellín $550,000 for the 28-year-old player, with additional potential bonuses and 20% of any future transfer fee retained by his former team.

Beitar Jerusalem's initial offers included a loan with an option to buy, and a subsequent bid of $400,000 with 15% of a future sale were both turned down by the Colombian club. Serna, who stands at 1.70 meters tall, recorded 3 goals and 2 assists in 25 appearances last season. He has signed a contract for an additional season and a half, keeping him with Beitar until the end of 2027.

Serna, identified as Beitar's primary midfield target, is expected to arrive soon to finalize his contract. His signing comes as Beitar Jerusalem seeks to improve its performance after a disappointing start to the season. The team suffered significant losses in its opening matches, including a 4-1 defeat to Maccabi Netanya and a 3-0 loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv, before securing their first points with a 1-0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin.
