Beitar Jerusalem Secures Colombian Midfielder Alexis Serna
Israeli football club Beitar Jerusalem has reportedly agreed to terms for the transfer of Colombian midfielder Alexis Serna from Independiente Medellín. Despite initial rejections of two earlier offers, Medellín has now accepted Beitar's latest proposal.
The transfer fee is reported to be $550,000, excluding potential future bonuses and a percentage of the player's rights retained by his current club. Beitar Jerusalem confirmed significant progress in negotiations.
Beitar's initial approach involved a loan deal with an option to buy, which was rejected. A subsequent offer of $400,000 was also turned down before the current agreement was reached. Serna, considered Beitar's primary midfield target, is expected to join the team.
Serna, 28, stands at 1.70 meters tall and recorded 25 appearances, 3 goals, and 2 assists last season. He is under contract with Independiente Medellín until the end of 2027, with an additional season and a half remaining.
Independiente Medellín has had a disappointing start to their season, suffering losses to Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv before securing their first points with a 1-0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin.
