Beitar Jerusalem Secures Colombian Midfielder Alexis Serna
Beitar Jerusalem has finalized the transfer of Colombian midfielder Alexis Serna from Independiente Medellín, following earlier rejections of their proposals. The Israeli club will pay $550,000 for the 28-year-old player, with potential future bonuses and 20% of any future transfer fee retained by Medellín.
Beitar's initial offers included a loan with an option to buy, and a subsequent bid of $400,000 with 15% of a future sale, both of which were turned down. Serna, who stands at 1.70 meters tall, recorded 25 appearances, 3 goals, and 2 assists last season. He is contracted with Medellín until the end of 2027.
Serna, identified as Beitar's primary midfield target, is expected to travel soon to finalize his move and join coach Almog Cohen's squad. The team has expressed disappointment with their season's start, having suffered losses to Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv before securing their first points with a 1-0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin.
