Beitar Jerusalem Signs Alexis Serna from Independiente Medellín
Beitar Jerusalem has finalized the transfer of midfielder Alexis Serna from Colombian club Independiente Medellín, despite initial rejected offers. The Israeli Premier League club will pay Medellín $550,000 for Serna, with additional potential future bonuses and 20% of any future transfer fee retained by the Colombian side. Beitar's initial attempts to sign the player included a loan with an option to buy, followed by a direct offer of $400,000 and 15% of a future sale, both of which were turned down.
Serna, 28, who stands at 1.70 meters tall, was identified as Beitar's primary midfield target. He recorded 25 appearances, 3 goals, and 2 assists last season and is under contract with Independiente Medellín until the end of 2027. He is expected to travel soon to sign his contract and join his new teammates.
Independiente Medellín has had a disappointing start to their season, suffering losses to Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv. However, they secured their first points on Monday with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin.
