Beitar Jerusalem Ups Offer for Midfielder Alexis Serna
Beitar Jerusalem has submitted an improved offer of $550,000 to acquire Colombian midfielder Alexis Serna from Independiente Medellín. This latest bid excludes potential future bonuses and a percentage of the player's rights that would remain with the Colombian club. This follows two previous rejections by Medellín; an initial loan offer with a purchase option and a subsequent outright bid of $400,000 were both turned down.
Beitar Jerusalem considers Serna, 28, their primary midfield target and hopes this significantly increased offer will be accepted. Serna, who stands at 1.70 meters tall, scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in 25 appearances last season. He is under contract with Independiente Medellín until the end of 2027, with an additional season and a half remaining.
The Israeli club has had a disappointing start to their season, suffering losses to Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv in their first two matches. They secured their first points on Monday with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin.
