Jerusalem Brothers Accused of Abandoning Ill Relative in Trash Bin
Emergency services in Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood discovered an adult man locked inside an underground garbage container. After being rescued, the man was hospitalized in moderate condition. Police investigations revealed disturbing details from surveillance footage showing two brothers escorting the man to the container, assisting him inside, and then leaving. The container closes automatically. Initial reports suggest the victim, who suffers from a mental disorder, asked to be taken to the container. However, investigators are examining the possibility that the brothers exploited his condition, helped him enter, and abandoned him. One brother, aged 28, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and police intend to seek an extension of his detention. Detectives from the Moriah police station in the Jerusalem district are working to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and how the man ended up inside the container. Investigators noted the grim nature of the case, where two adult men allegedly left a vulnerable relative in a potentially fatal situation.
