Video Surfaces of Alleged Attempted Murder in Jerusalem
Police are investigating an alleged attempted murder in Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood after new video footage emerged showing a man being pushed into an underground refuse container. The investigation suggests the incident was not accidental, with authorities now suspecting a criminal act.
The video, recorded around 12:30 PM on Saturday, shows three family members near the container: the suspect, the victim, and a minor. At one point, the victim is seen inside the container. Shortly after, the suspect and the minor leave the scene, leaving the victim alone inside.
Rescue forces worked for an extended period to extract the man, who was found to be suffering from oxygen deprivation and high concentrations of flammable gases within the container. Firefighters had to persuade him to wear a special helmet to provide breathable air while they worked to ventilate the container and reduce gas levels. A crane was eventually used to lift the heavy container, weighing approximately one ton, to free the victim.
The victim, whose condition was described as serious due to the life-threatening circumstances, received medical treatment from Magen David Adom paramedics and was transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in moderate condition.
Authorities have arrested a relative of the victim on suspicion of attempted murder. The suspect's detention has been extended by two days as the investigation continues.
