Two Brothers Convicted for Attempted Murder of Influencer Relative in Northern Israel

The Haifa District Court convicted brothers Hassan and Saeed Dabbah, aged 29 and 22, for the attempted murder of their relative, a social media influencer, in March 2024. The incident occurred in the Arab town of Deir al-Asad, where the victim was shot at close range while sitting in her car. The court ruled that the prosecution proved the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, weapons offenses, threats, and intentional injury.

The motive behind the attack was the brothers' anger over the victim's lifestyle and frequent social media activity. According to the investigation, the influencer had come to Deir al-Asad to attend a Mother's Day party and had to stay overnight due to a car malfunction. The next morning, as she and her ex-partner Kasem approached her vehicle, the brothers, armed and on a motorcycle, ambushed her. Hassan fired multiple shots at her lower body through the car window, and when Kasem tried to assist, he was threatened and shots were fired near him before the assailants fled.

During the trial, the defendants denied involvement, claiming they were in Jerusalem at the time and highlighting the lack of forensic evidence such as fingerprints or DNA. However, the court rejected these claims, emphasizing the close family ties and the victim's clear identification of Hassan as the shooter despite his helmet. A key witness was the brothers' uncle, who testified that he had raised them and recognized them immediately after the attack, stating, "How could I not recognize him? I raised him."

The court also relied on cellphone location data and security camera footage of the escape motorcycle. The judge noted that the defendants' complete silence during interrogations and trial strengthened the evidence against them. The brothers remain in custody pending sentencing arguments scheduled for September 2026.
