Israel Defense Minister Warns of Iranian Retaliation, Vows Devastating Response
Defense Minister Israel Katz warned on Thursday that severe economic pressure and fears of internal unrest could push Iran to take action against Israel. Speaking at a New Year's toast event with Ministry of Defense Director General, Maj. Gen. (res.) Amir Baram, and staff, Katz stated that an Iranian attack on Israel would remove all limitations on Israel's response.
"We will strike all national military and civilian infrastructure in Iran, including energy infrastructure, and return Iran deep into the stone age and darkness," Katz declared. He added that the Iranian regime understands why it has not attacked Israel after previous strong Israeli actions, including strikes against Iran, the destruction of its nuclear program, the elimination of [Ayatollah] Khamenei, and significant damage to its strategic capabilities.
However, Katz noted that signs indicate that heavy economic pressure and the fear of regime collapse might drive Iran to desperate measures. He assured that Israel is well-prepared for any eventuality, both defensively and offensively, and that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are ready to execute any mission.
