Iran Escalates Regional Tensions with Attacks; Israel Warns of Holiday Threats

Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stark warning Wednesday regarding the potential for an Iranian attack on Israel, stating that "the more economic pressure on Iran increases, the more likely it is that they will attack us." He specifically noted Iran's tendency to "like to attack during Jewish holidays." These remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, marked by recent U.S. strikes and Iranian retaliations across the region.

In parallel, the Israeli military (IDF) announced the elimination of two Hamas operatives, Talal Mustafa Saleh Badawi and Momen Said Mohammed Hawari, who were allegedly involved in planning attacks and rebuilding the group's capabilities. Separately, in Judea-Samaria, border police forces neutralized three individuals in Beit Rima who were reportedly throwing stones at security forces and attempting attacks.

Iran claimed responsibility for a series of drone and missile attacks targeting U.S. military sites in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Iranian state media reported strikes on radar systems and U.S. positions at bases like Al Dhafra and Al Minhad in the UAE, and Sheikh Isa airbase in Bahrain. The Revolutionary Guards also claimed to have targeted U.S. forces in Kuwait, Jordan, and Erbil, Iraq. Kuwaiti authorities confirmed a drone attack caused a fire in a residential complex without casualties.

Meanwhile, the Hezbollah militant group launched two explosive drones toward IDF soldiers in the northern Israeli security zone, one of which was shot down. The IDF responded by striking Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon. The IDF also reported intercepting a drone originating from Lebanon, though an initial assessment suggested it might have been a false target.

In a separate development, Peru announced the severance of diplomatic ties with Iran, citing Tehran's role in escalating Middle East conflicts and obstructing maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran also reiterated its threat of a "harsher, broader, and more destructive" response to any further U.S. actions, while former U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran of complete annihilation if it launched a third attack.
