Israel Prepared for Iranian Attacks During Holidays, Defense Minister Says

Defense Minister Israel Katz stated in an interview that Iran is likely to attack as U.S. pressure and economic sanctions on the country increase. He noted that Iran often chooses to attack during Jewish holidays, attributing this to antisemitism, and pointed to past incidents as evidence.

Katz emphasized that Israel is prepared for such an eventuality, both defensively and offensively, in coordination with the United States. He asserted that Israel would not tolerate an attack, regardless of the reason, whether it be related to Lebanon, Samaria, Gaza, or any other pretext.

"Our planes are ready to take off," Katz declared, underscoring the military's readiness to respond swiftly and decisively to any aggression. The minister made these remarks during a conference hosted by ynet and Yediot Ahronot in collaboration with the Israel Democracy Institute.
