Israel Prepares for Iranian Retaliation Amid US Tensions

The Israeli military (IDF) is increasing its alert level due to escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, fearing that a conflict between the two nations could expand to include Israel. Military intelligence and the Air Force have developed plans for various scenarios, covering both defensive and offensive operations.

The IDF has also updated its target bank in Iran over recent months and refined operational methods based on lessons from previous confrontations. This preparation aims to ensure a swift and significant response should tensions escalate. A senior Israeli official reportedly told "Mako" that potential targets would include Iran's energy infrastructure.

Defense Minister Israel Katz addressed the possibility of an Iranian attack during the upcoming holiday season, stating, "As US pressure on Iran increases, and the economic friction and stranglehold on Iran grow, there is a likelihood they will attack. We are prepared for this defensively." He added, "We are prepared defensively and offensively in coordination with the US."

Security officials assess that heavy American economic pressure on Tehran might push Iran toward more drastic actions. Against the backdrop of internal Iranian tensions and heightened conflict in other regions, the IDF is conducting drills and preparing for a potential flare-up during the holiday period.
