Water Supply Halted to Negev Agriculture Amid Desalination Plant Shutdown
Water supply for agriculture in the Ramat HaNegev Regional Council has been cut off following the shutdown of desalination plants. The Eshkol Regional Council has urged farmers and the public to reduce water consumption for agricultural and gardening purposes.
Currently, only one major desalination plant, the Hadera facility, remains operational. The other plants are expected to resume operations once the turbidity levels in the water decrease to the required standards.
The shutdown is a direct consequence of the high turbidity of the Mediterranean Sea's water, which has prevented the desalination facilities from functioning properly. This has led to a significant disruption in the water supply chain for agricultural needs in the region.
