IDF Eliminates Hamas Commander Responsible for Holding Seven Hostages
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted an airstrike in the Gaza City area last weekend, eliminating Mahmoud Abdel Fattah Awad, a commander in Hamas's military wing. During the war, Awad was involved in holding seven Israeli hostages: Daniela Gilboa, Karina Arieiv, Doron Steinbacher, Naama Levy, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, and Eitan Mor. They were held captive in an underground tunnel within Gaza City.
In recent times, Awad had been advancing terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians and was working to restore Hamas's capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire. The strike was carried out from the air to neutralize the threat he posed.
The IDF stated that its Southern Command forces are deployed in the area according to the agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat.
