IDF Kills Terrorist Involved in October Hostage Ceremony in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continues its systematic elimination of terrorists involved in the October 7 attack and hostage-taking in Israel. Over the past weekend, the IDF targeted and killed Mahmoud Fatair, a commander in the Nukhba unit of the Central Camps Brigade within the Gaza-based terrorist group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), in the Deir al-Balah area. Fatair participated in the October 7 incursion into Israeli territory and was involved in holding Rom Breslavski captive.
Fatair was also documented wearing PIJ militant attire during the ceremony handing over numerous hostages, including Amit Shani, Ofir Engel, Moran Stella Yanai, Itay Regev, Liam Or Nasser, Raz Ben Ami, Paibon Ratnin, Gong Sai Lao, Jakapan Sikna, and Charuamchai Saigaikai. This operation was part of the sixth phase of the "Heaven's Gates" campaign aimed at returning hostages through a negotiated deal.
The IDF justified the targeted killing by stating that Fatair recently attempted to advance terror plans against Israeli forces and civilians, and his elimination was necessary to remove the threat he posed.
