IDF Kills Palestinian Islamic Jihad Commander Who Held Israeli Hostage Rom Breslavski

The Israel Defense Forces announced on Monday that over the past weekend they killed Mahmoud Fatair, the commander of the Nukhba unit in the Central Camps Brigade of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), in the Deir al-Balah area of the Gaza Strip. According to the IDF, Fatair participated in the October 7 terrorist attack, infiltrated Israeli territory, and was involved in holding Israeli hostage Rom Breslavski.

The IDF further stated that during the sixth phase of Operation "Sky Gates," Fatair was documented wearing PIJ uniforms and taking part in ceremonies handing over hostages, including Amit Shani, Ofir Engel, Moran Stella Yanai, Itai Regev, Liam Or Nasser, Raz Ben Ami, Paiboon Ratnin, Gong Sai Lao, Jakapan Sikna, and Charuamchai Saigaikai. The military added that recently Fatair had been advancing terrorist plans against Israeli forces and civilians, and his elimination was carried out to neutralize this threat.

The IDF Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area according to existing agreements and will continue operations to remove any threats to Israeli security.
