Daniel Theis Signs Two-Year Deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv to Lead Frontcourt

Daniel Theis has finalized a two-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv, agreeing to a $2.2 million annual salary. The agreement was reached after resolving a dispute with Villeurbanne, who compensated Theis, clearing the way for him to join the Israeli champions. Theis is expected to be a key figure in Maccabi's new frontcourt alongside Roman Sorkin and Armando Bacot, who has also signed with the team.

Maccabi Tel Aviv accelerated efforts to secure Theis following changes in Villeurbanne's situation and the availability of high-profile free agents in the EuroLeague market. Theis will be joining Maccabi for his third EuroLeague team after stints with Bamberg and Monaco. He spent nearly a decade in the NBA before moving to Europe.

In the past season with Monaco, Theis averaged 9.7 points per game on 69.2% shooting, along with 5 rebounds per game, including 1.7 offensive rebounds. Notably, he scored a season-high 17 points in a regular season game against Maccabi Tel Aviv. His signing is expected to strengthen Maccabi's frontcourt as they prepare for the upcoming season.
