Maccabi Tel Aviv Signs Daniel Theis, Finalizes Roster Ahead of Next Season

Maccabi Tel Aviv has secured a key addition to its roster for the upcoming season by signing German center Daniel Theis. The 34-year-old, who won both the European Championship and World Championship with Germany, played last season for Monaco. He agreed to a two-year contract worth approximately $2.2 million per season, placing him among the highest-paid foreign players in the club's history.

Alongside Theis, Maccabi has also finalized terms with another center, Armando Bacot, who is expected to be officially announced soon. The team is still focused on strengthening its backcourt, with efforts concentrated on signing a guard to replace Loney Walker, whose status remains uncertain.

The current roster includes point guards Yam Madar, Ifa Lundberg, and Jimmy Clark; shooting guards John DiBartolomeo and Amit Abo; small forwards Bonzie Colson, Oshae Brissett, and Will Rayman; power forwards Jalen Hood-Schifino, T.J. Leaf, and Gur Lavi; and centers Daniel Theis, Roman Sorkin, and Armando Bacot. Theis’s salary ranks him alongside Loney Walker as the second highest-paid foreign player in Maccabi’s history, just behind Carlos Arroyo, who earned $2.5 million.

This roster construction reflects Maccabi Tel Aviv’s ambition to remain competitive in the Israeli Premier League and European competitions. The club continues to finalize its squad ahead of the new season, aiming to fill the remaining gaps, particularly in the guard position.
