Maccabi Tel Aviv Signs Daniel Theis with Unique Contract Demands Including Dog Walker

Maccabi Tel Aviv has finalized a contract with German center Daniel Theis ahead of the upcoming EuroLeague season, securing the European champion without an exit clause. The signing, announced less than two months before the season starts, involved not only financial negotiations but also some unusual demands from Theis. According to reports from the sports media section 'Press Box,' Theis requested a dog walker for his pets both in Israel and in Belgrade, where Maccabi will host EuroLeague games until they potentially return to Israel later in the season.

Additionally, Theis insisted on using only products made in Germany, his home country, including a German-made car. These requests reflect his personal preferences and were part of the contract discussions. Theis previously played for Monaco for one and a half seasons, averaging 9.7 points per game with a 69.2% field goal percentage and 5 rebounds, including 1.7 offensive rebounds. His season-high was 17 points in a regular-season game against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Theis's move to Maccabi comes after financial difficulties at his former club Villeurbanne. His arrival is expected to strengthen Maccabi's roster as they prepare for the EuroLeague campaign.
