Celebrations Erupt in Nablus After Deadly West Bank Shooting Attack

Following a deadly shooting attack near the Gilad Farm settlement in the West Bank, celebrations broke out in the city of Nablus (Shechem). Yoseph Haddad, an Israeli public relations activist, shared disturbing footage showing large groups of Palestinians rejoicing and holding parades in the streets in response to the attack. Haddad condemned the celebrations, describing them as a "culture of sanctifying death" and labeling the participants as "accursed terrorists" who glorify hatred and terror.

The attack resulted in the death of Benyahu Malat, a 32-year-old father of two and a member of the Gilad Farm security team. Malat was killed while bravely attempting to rescue Israeli tourists who were under attack in the area. Despite the Israeli forces killing four Palestinian assailants during the exchange of fire, Haddad noted that the number of attackers killed did not deter the celebratory response in Nablus. He emphasized that even if thousands of terrorists were killed, the killing of one Israeli Jew would still be cause for celebration among the Palestinians, highlighting what he called their culture of martyrdom and terror.

Benyahu Malat was mourned by his community as a devoted family man, a true patriot, and a hero who left behind his wife Esther and two young daughters. The incident has intensified tensions in the region, with Haddad’s posts drawing attention to the starkly contrasting reactions to the attack and its aftermath.
