Brother of Slain Israeli Settler Benyahu Malt Condemns Silence After Deadly Gilad Farm Attack

Eliyahu Malt, brother of Benyahu Malt who was killed in a terror attack at Gilad Farm, expressed deep pain and frustration, stating that his brother was "also murdered because of us," criticizing the community's silence and passivity. Benyahu Malt, 32, a resident and agricultural coordinator at Gilad Farm, was shot dead while assisting a group of hikers attacked by Palestinian assailants. He left behind his wife Esther and two daughters, Tair Eretz and Adama Ivriya.

Benyahu was known for his dedication to security and civilian intelligence in the settlement, often working at night to avoid confiscation by the Civil Administration. He played a key role in building access roads to strategic points in the settlement and planned to establish new outposts in the West Bank, with preparations underway to continue his work posthumously.

The settlement community mourns the loss of a pioneering figure. Daniela Weiss, chairwoman of the Nachala movement, eulogized Benyahu as part of a generation that advanced settlement efforts despite demolition threats, noting that his death marks the end of an era defined by the Israeli military's Area A and B divisions in the West Bank. The attack and Benyahu's death have intensified criticism of the Israeli security forces for insufficient action against lethal terrorism in the region.
