Search Intensifies for 4-Year-Old Yuval Kogan Missing on Ashkelon Beach Amid Kidnapping Fears

Rescue teams, including the Israeli Navy, IDF, and Shin Bet, resumed extensive searches early Friday for 4-year-old Yuval Kogan, who disappeared Thursday afternoon during a family outing on Ashkelon's northern beach. Yuval was last seen around 12:30 PM while picnicking with his father and two older sisters. His father lost sight of him for three to four minutes, after which Yuval vanished into dense vegetation among the dunes. Security cameras captured his last known movements with his family at the beach.

Yuval's mother, Dina Kogan, a pediatrician, expressed urgent concern, calling for full mobilization of emergency services. She warned of an "immediate life-threatening situation" and urged authorities to consider all possibilities, including abduction. As hours passed, she voiced growing fears that Yuval's disappearance was not a simple case of a lost child but potentially a kidnapping, possibly with a nationalist motive or involving a mentally unstable individual. She noted Yuval's fear of water and that the sea was too far for him to have wandered alone.

Search efforts so far have included helicopter reconnaissance, naval patrols, and volunteer participation. However, the family demands escalation to a formal kidnapping protocol. Dina described Yuval as emotionally intelligent and unlikely to hide for long, emphasizing the need to expand the search beyond the immediate area.
