Israeli Authorities Intensify Search for Missing 4-Year-Old Boy in Ashkelon Amid Kidnapping Fears

Four-year-old Yuval Kogen disappeared on Thursday afternoon while on a family outing at the northern beach dunes of Ashkelon. His mother, Dr. Dina Kogen, a pediatrician, expressed urgent concern that the disappearance may be a kidnapping rather than a simple case of a lost child. She pleaded for an expanded search effort, describing the situation as "a matter of life or death."

Yuval was last seen on security footage moments before vanishing while exploring bushes near the dunes with his father and two older sisters. According to his mother, the boy, who does not know how to swim and fears the sea, disappeared within three to four minutes of his father losing sight of him. She emphasized that Yuval is emotionally intelligent and unlikely to hide for so long voluntarily.

The search operation involves rescue forces, the Israeli Navy, the IDF, and the Shin Bet, with hundreds of volunteers from ZAKA and Magen David Adom also participating. Despite extensive searches including helicopter scans and marine patrols, no trace of Yuval has been found. Dr. Kogen voiced fears that the search is too narrowly focused and urged authorities to consider all possibilities, including abduction by a mentally unstable individual or a politically motivated kidnapping.

The family is demanding that the search area be broadened immediately. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM, and the ongoing efforts reflect the critical nature of the case. Authorities continue to coordinate the search as the family hopes for a swift and safe resolution to the ordeal.
