Inter Milan Explores Top Defender Alternatives After Anan Khalaily Medical Setback

Inter Milan has resumed its search for a defender following the collapse of Anan Khalaily's transfer due to failed medical tests. The Italian club had initially agreed on Khalaily's move, but the setback forced them to consider over 20 alternative players, including notable names such as England international Jed Spence from Tottenham, Feyenoord's Gaviario Reid, and Monaco's Wanderson. Another candidate is Nahuel Molina, the 28-year-old Argentine World Cup winner currently playing for Atletico Madrid.

Jed Spence is valued at around 30 million euros, having joined Tottenham two years ago for the same amount. Gaviario Reid is estimated at 25 million euros and is regarded as one of Feyenoord's top performers. Molina is valued at approximately 15 million euros. The potential signing of any of these players could impact Khalaily's situation, as Saint-Étienne has indicated willingness to sell Khalaily for 25 million euros, with the player open to joining any league outside Italy, possibly triggering a domino effect.

Inter also explored options including Gaël Doué from Strasbourg, brother of Desire Doué, and Julian Ryerson from Borussia Dortmund, but both were rejected due to high price demands. Meanwhile, the club may retain Benjamin Pavard, who was loaned to Marseille last season. This ongoing defensive recruitment strategy highlights Inter's urgent need to strengthen their backline after Khalaily's transfer fell through.
