Italian Medical Tests Block Anan Khalaily's Serie A Transfer
Anan Khalaily's anticipated transfer to Serie A has officially collapsed after he failed Italy's stringent medical examinations. Despite successfully passing Inter Milan's medical tests, Khalaily did not meet the requirements of the Italian Olympic Committee's extended cardiological protocol, which is independent of the club's assessments. This rigorous cardiac screening has become more common since the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccinations, with about one in every three to four players showing findings that require further investigation. The additional tests mandated by the Olympic Committee ultimately led to the cancellation of Khalaily's move. Prior to Inter Milan's interest, AC Milan and Napoli had also considered signing him, but due to the failed medical clearance, no Serie A club can now sign Khalaily. He had even been flown to Italy on a private jet and was close to signing before the deal fell through on Monday, July 13, 2026.
